RODENT CONTROL EXPERTS IN SOUTH FLORIDA
Some of the most common signs that may indicate you need rodent control is hearing noises in the attic, ceiling or inside walls. Scurrying, scratching and scuffling sounds are often an indicator that a rodent infestation may be starting. Furthermore, additional signs may be, tunneling on attic insulation, urine stains, fecal matter, chewed up packages in your pantry, or rub marks on walls.

Once inside, rodents can destroy insulation, A/C ducts, plumbing and may even cause a house fire by chewing on electrical wires. They are also known to carry many diseases. These diseases can be spread to you directly through contact with rodent feces, urine or saliva through breathing in air or eating food that is contaminated with rodent waste. Some of the many diseases carried by rodents are Hantavirus, Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, Leptospirosis and Monkeypox to name a few.

OUR RODENT CONTROL PROCESS

Rodent Inspection
A Pest Specialist will quickly eliminate all rodents in your home. Our expert technician will inspect and identify active rodent areas throughout your home and determine the best locations for trap placement.

During our inspection, our Pest Specialist will inspect the exterior and interior of your home. Exterior areas include your roof and crawlspace. Interior inspection includes an attic inspection where our specialist will look for evidence of fecal matter, rub marks, burrowing, nesting areas and any chewing damage.

Most often we place traps in the attic; however, if we identify rats within the living area of your home, we will also place traps inside in areas inaccessible to children or pets. In the event that there is no attic in your home, our removal process allows us to remove rodents with the use of on-way door traps.
Rodent Proofing/Exclusion
One of the most important parts of rodent control is rodent proofing your home by preventing entry through exclusion repairs.
Our rodent control experts utilize Integrated Wildlife Control Management techniques and hi-tech equipment, this process allows us to quickly identify active points of entry, furthermore, we will identify any other potential area(s) of entry around your home that might be appealing to rodents.

Rodents have sharp teeth that are constantly growing, unlike our teeth, they don't have roots. In order to keep teeth from growing into their brains, they constantly gnaw to file them down. Rodents can gnaw through wood, sheetrock, screens, pvc pipes and even some materials made out of metal. They also have the ability to compress their rib cage to fit through small openings. The most common South Florida rat is the roof rat, they can enter through various access points on the exterior of your home and can get through spaces as small as a quarter. By securing even the smallest openings, we can prevent rats from getting into your property.
Some of the most common points of entry we secure include roof vents, plumbing stacks, A/C chase lines, roof returns, utility lines, soffit vents and crawl vents just to name a few. In some instances, they will enter underneath the garage doors if the seal is damaged, we also replace garage door seals with a rodent-proof seal. For long term solutions and to professionally secure your home, we will use a combination of materials including hardware cloth, concrete, stainless steel braces, heavy duty gauge metal and specialty caulking to seal openings.

At SWAT Pest Squad, we are truly the experts at providing professional, high quality, detailed exclusion work that securely protects your property from rodent entry.

Exterior Rodent Abatement
Once the trapping and exclusion phases are completed, our rodent specialist will install tamper-proof rodent bait stations on the exterior perimeter of your home to ensure long-term rodent activity around your property. Rodents bait stations will be refilled and maintained based on recommendations by our specialist.
It is of the utmost importance to maintain stations and replace rodent bait regularly. If rodent activity in your area is high, the bait will be consumed within a very short period of time. Furthermore, environmental conditions such as high humidity will slowly decompose bait and rodents will not attracted to a moldy bait.
Once bait is consumed, the time it takes the rodenticide to work depends on the type of bait and how much was eaten. Our most effective bait works fast, with usually rodents dying within a 24 hours period.
Rats rarely die within the bait stations and usually do near their shelter.
Secondary poisoning by other mammals eating rodents that died from consuming the bait is rare, this is in part to the low toxicity of active ingredients within the rodenticide, which is designed to only be strong enough to affect small rodents such as rats or mice.
Attic Restoration and Sanitation
Rodents in home attics, including mice, rats and squirrels can create a variety of hazards and extensive damages. They can urinate on insulation, defecate all over the attic and sometimes chew on you A/C ductwork. Rodents often carry ectoparasites such as lice, mites, ticks, and fleas. After the removal of rodents, if left untreated, these ectoparasites can remain in your home even after the removal rodents. If your attic insulation is soiled or damaged it will need to be replaced or restored.
At SWAT Pest Squad, our team of professionals are equipped to calculate existing insulation levels and remove and dispose of soiled insulation. Once damaged insulation is removed, we'll sanitize your attic by applying a combination of a disinfectant, sanitizer and virucide, restoring your attic to the clean state it was prior to the rodents moving in. Your new insulation will be installed as per recommendations by the U.S Department of Energy.
